On February 27, 1851, Bridgeport was incorporated as a borough with its 572 residents. The borough contained 420 acres of land carved out of Upper Merion. Essentially, this area was the Swedesford section of the township settled in 1723 by the first settlers Mats Holstein and the Eastburn Family. (Courtesy of the King of Prussia Historical Society)
