Port Kennedy Train Station during the Bicentennial

photograph

This photo shows the Port Kennedy Reading Railroad Station, during the Bicentennial celebrations. The photo was taken by James Brazel from the road approach to the old iron Port Kennedy-Betzwood "singing bridge" over the railroad and river. The station and grounds were renovated for the expected crowds. There are new wooden light poles and a cleared parking lot on the right between the tracks and the river. The railroad at that time was four tracks wide; currently it is two tracks wide. Special trains were run for the Bicentennial with the RDC (Rail Diesel Car) equipment seen in the photo.
