Please join the King of Prussia Historical Society on Saturday, November 12th at 2:00 pm when Robert Miller presents “William Colepaugh: King of Prussia’s Nazi Spy” at Christ Church (Old Swedes) Church Hall.
In his well documented book, A True Story of An American Nazi Spy: William Colepaugh, Bob Miller documents the story of a man who was married, lived, worked, owned a business, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the Rotary in King of Prussia for over forty years.
Colepaugh was of German heritage, and came to be an admirer of the Third Reich and all things German. After failing to get into the Naval Academy and flunking out of MIT, he joined the merchant marines. Colepaugh jumped ship and made his way to Germany. He was trained by the SS as a as an espionage agen and saboteur, and returned to the US with fellow German national Eric Gimpel. After a difficult crossing in a U-boat, the pair came ashore in Maine, and set about their mission to spy on the US.
