NORRISTOWN — The Historical Society of Montgomery County is pleased to announce the award of the 2018 Ella Aderman Acorn Award for Preservation of Montgomery County History to J. Michael Morrison.
To honor the service of the former President of our Board of Trustees, Ella Aderman, the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of Montgomery County created this annual preservation award. This award is given to those individuals, organizations, and business who have made a significant contribution towards preserving the history of Montgomery County
After reviewing the nominations, the Board of Trustees felt that J. Michael Morrison’s hard work with the King of Prussia Historical Society deserved recognition with this award.
J. Michael Morrison is a native of King of Prussia. His keen interest in local history comes honestly; his grandparents settled there in the 1920’s, opening an Antique Shop, and running the Post Office. He grew up learning the family business and studying local history at an early age.
Michael spent many years compiling stories, artifacts, and photographs of King of Prussia, carrying on the legacy of his grandparents. Motivated by a desire to raise awareness about the need for historic preservation in his hometown of King of Prussia, Michael published several books about the history of the region, helped to revive the King of Prussia Historical Society and serving as the group’s president for seven years.
He continues to research history and often serves as a keynote speaker at local businesses and other organizations.
Morrison received this award at the Historical Society of Montgomery County’s Annual Luncheon held at the Bay Pony Inn in Lederach on Nov. 9.
