PROGRAM Young Historians – “The Eastburn Estate Restoration.“
Upper Merion High School Social Studies teacher, Matthew Mitchell, will present “The Eastburn Estate Restoration.“ The estate is located off of East Valley Forge Rd. It encompassed about 250 acres that were purchased from the Norris family during two different transactions in 1732 and 1740. The home’s seven fireplaces were especially important during the fall and winter months as the home’s main source of heat. The estate included a plethora of fruit trees that produced goods that were sold at markets in Germantown.
SPEAKER Matthew Mitchel, a graduate of Upper Merion High School and young historian who believes that the role of an educator is to help shape young adults into life-long learners.
