Upper Merion has a rich and fascinating history. We have both Civil War and Revolutionary War veterans buried in a local cemetery, we have the still-standing home of the chief matron (nurse) of Camp Letterman – the field hospital that treated thousands of wounded after the Battle of Gettysburg, we have an inn that was crawling with spies while Washington camped at Valley Forge, and much more. We also have a unique band of limestone running through the district that may well be responsible for almost every significant fact about our area.
Whether you’ve lived here all your life, or you just moved in – come on a tour with us and find out more.
The July 28 Historic Tour of Upper Merion begins at 9:30 am when you board a comfortable 15 seat passenger mini van (with a high step for entry) for a guided drive through the township. Small amounts of walking will be involved when we stop for a closer look at points of interest. Returning to Little Sicily Pizza restaurant at approximately 1:00 pm, you are invited to continue conversation in their private dining room with your fellow history enthusiasts over lunch (not included in price of ticket).
COST $40 per person. Reservation and advance payment are required. Ticket purchases are non refundable unless canceled by the organization. Seating is limited so reserve early online via EVENTBRITE.
Tour departs from and returns to the Little Sicily Pizza. Please arrive promptly at 9:30 in the parking lot across from Little Sicily Pizza.
The King of Prussia Historical Society reserves the right to cancel the tour (with full refund) if the minimum number of tickets have not been sold or due to inclement weather.
