Please join the King of Prussia Historical Society at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 26 when David Montalvo virtually presents via Zoom “51st Regiment – PA Volunteer Infantry”
Tune in and hear the history of the 51st Pennsylvania Volunteers – a Civil War regiment raised right here in Montgomery County, including many Upper Merion & Bridgeport men. They fought at Antietam and Fredericksburg in the east, participated in a sea-expedition to North Carolina and fought on Roanoke Island and at New Bern. They were out west at the siege of Vicksburg and were themselves besieged and nearly starved in Knoxville, Tennessee. They were at Cold Harbor and Petersburg. Under the command of Colonel Hartranft (later General and Governor of PA), these men were simply everywhere and fought uncomplainingly through the worst of circumstances to victory. It is a story worth hearing!
Dave Montalvo is President of the King of Prussia Historical Society and Upper Merion Area High School physics educator.
