Moore-Irwin House, August 2023

Moore-Irwin House, August 2023

Join us at the Moore-Irwin House for the King of Prussia Historical Society’s annual excursion. From the grounds of the Silas Burgess Arboretum, we will point out some of the features that were addressed in the April 12 talk.
Among the highlighted features will be what we believe to be the location of the original section of the house, likely used by General Muhlenberg during the Valley Forge encampment and where George Washington enjoyed trout caught in nearby Trout Creek. We will also point out the additions, two of which were designed by renowned architect R. Brognard Okie, and show you just what makes an “Okie House” so special.
The Silas Burgess Arboretum, which surrounds the house, has been recently restored thanks to the efforts of the UM Shade Tree Commission.
Light refreshments will be provided. Make sure to wear appropriate shoes for walking through the grass.
Turn onto Eighth Ave, and turn right into the parking lot after American Heritage Credit Union.
Rain date: June 23, 2024.
