In the early 1950’s, the PA Highway Dept planned to widen US 202 in preparation of the convergence of the PA Turnpike & Schuylkill Expressway. Widespread protests broke out as concerned citizens feared the King of Prussia Inn would be torn down. In 1952, the PA Highway Dept offered $139,000 to purchase the Inn. A decision was made to spare
The Henderson Family Burial Plot is one of the earliest burial grounds in the township. It is located on South Henderson Road near Gulph Road. Martin’s Dam Club was a recreational spot even before its organization in 1924. George R. Park, a long time resident, purchased the old Martin homestead for his family in 1906. Mr. Park established an informal club at the location built on the site of Henry Zook’s dam. Many came to enjoy swimming in the cool spring-fed waters of the dam.
The Valley Forge Convention Center opened in 1972 as a hotel/movie theater complex. The center was completed in 1973 and underwent a series of changes and expansions.
