In 1958, the Hankin brothers built a mammoth George Washington Motor Lodge next to the King of Prussia/Valley Forge PA Turnpike Interchange. It had both an indoor and outdoor pool, which was uncommon at that time. It was a popular spot for conventions, hosting honeymooners as well as General Electric Co. employees.
In 1962 a major fire occurred. One wing was destroyed and a patron of the hotel was killed in the fire. http://www.kophistory.org/gwfire/
