Southeast PA Relief Map Showing the Chester Valley (Great Valley)

map

The Chester (or Great) Valley is a long limestone valley from the Schuylkill River to Lancaster County. Fertile and farmed by the earliest European settlers, it was the preferred path for wagon roads, railroads, and automobile roads - there being very few streams or hills to cross. The limestone landscape is, unfortunately, prone to sinkholes, however. Base map created using PASDA PA Atlas; place names were added.
